Prostitution; get in, get out

Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch because of this topic, I would just like to make it clear that RG's rules specifically forbid pornography-related discussions and adult images, not prostitution. This topic won't be vulgar nor will it be explicit so there's no need for a sudden rise of concern.

I'm sure if you ask a lot of people whether they think prostitution should be legalized they'd instinctively turn it down. But why? The case for making it against the law to buy sex begins with the premise that it's exploitative and demeaning to sex workers.

According to the United States government, "prostitution directly contributes to the modern-day slave trade and is inherently demeaning." The government also claims that legalizing or tolerating prostitution creates "greater demand for human trafficking victims." And yet, prostitution is legal in parts of Nevada.

Legalizing prostitution expands it, the argument goes, and also helps pimps, fails to protect women, and leads to more back-alley violence, not less.

There's a big difference between a street worker controlled by a pimp and a high-end call girl who picks her own clients, and the real question is how to increase poor women's access to decent and safe work in general. Legalizing prostitution is likely to make things a little better for women who have too few options to begin with.

Prostitution is inevitable and conditions will be better for everyone all around if it's regulated. In other words, more condoms, fewer beatings.

Do you think prostitution should be legalized in places that it already isn't? Why or why not.

i think they should legalize it. it gives the Urged Men and women a chance to Let Loose insted of becoming over urged and turning to Rape, and sexual harrsment or abuse.

Also, if its legal it would have a chance to be more organized not needing pimps and allowing women to "Set it up" as if it were a date, just with some sex at the end... this is just my Opinion, it has good sides and bad sides but i think the Good overweigh the bad in this one :S

yes but people still get hurt when they turn to prostitution. The prostitutes often turn to drugs and what not. and if they don't pay things turn deadly

Or do Drugs turn you to Prostitution... usually a person starts Drugs or alchohol when Depressed, Driving them crazy Making them adicted and making them want more and more.. Drugs can easily Strip your money leaving you with nothing else but jobs you wont like, Most women turn to prostition were as men work for Gangs, Mafia and other Criminal orginasations

If it would be legalized, I'm sure they will be other restrictions implemented. Almost like the labor force.

Of course its your body but the problems is that some people don't know how to do it privately. When it escalates to people selfing themselves on public streets and you're walking with your kid, it becomes a public concern, no matter how personal the act is.

Legalize it, however, if the "vendor" contracts an STD they should have to stop all services immediately.

Legalize it, yes. They should regulate it though.

True certain things would have to be done. Like rooms etc. I don't see it becoming legal everywhere though lol how would the government tax them haha.

Even if they don't legalize it, it will always be done. Alway has always will. No matter if they made it legal and told them they couldn't perform theact on the street it is still going to be done by some (if not most) of them.

The underlined part is what I was thinking as well. It seems like it would be really hard to keep tabs on it.

And besides all of the ppl "selfing" themselfs on the street are not only prostitutes. Some of those are just people doing it lol. Therefore prostitution being legal or illega will still never have any effect on that. Want your kids to not see that move into a gated community or something.

Doesnt really matter if its legal or not, it happens all the time everywere... it would be better to legalize it to Offer Security to the People who do it.

It seems like it comes down to rape, because the court system simply doesn't want to deal with 'people like that' who constantly complain about rape, but it's a hard case to prove.

My simple belief is that you should be able to choose what you do with your body. It would be more simple, imo to say 'no proven prositutes can make rape claims in the court of law'

I know that's messed up, but it's going to be either way. We've screwed ourself into stupid complications by telling people what they can and cannot do. It's always getting worse.
