My dad and I are thinking of building a computer by Christmas, He already has a list of things on Newegg, but I'm just doing some double-checking on some cheap-ish video cards.

The one I'm looking at is a Radeon HD 5770, It's about $100 on Newegg, I see it's PCI Express 2.1, Would a motherboard with PCI Express 1.0 and 2.0 work with this?

I know the card is 2.1, but I've searched and found no motherboards that say 2.1...

Help plox ;P

Ah, So this 2.1 Card will run fine on my motherboard with 2.0?

Yes. List the specs of the PC you plan on buying.

We are building our own, So far this is what I've came up with:

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819106009

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131754

I realize the Processor isn't anything special like an i3/5/7 but, It's still good. :p.

Also, planning on 8 or 16GB of RAM.

By Christmas I should have an official answer from my dad if we are going to, I'll definitely post pictures.

Thanks for the suggestions, Yeah with that mobo and processor, I just saved like $120.

I would like to get the video card, but I might actually just use the Integrated one on the Processor, If my specs are up to "par", The HD 2500 should run Minecraft, and other games fine. Until I get some extra video card money.

2.1 is backwards compatible with 2.0 as stated. Go with Adam's suggestion. IGPU on Ivy bridge isn't so bad. 5770 is a pretty weak gaming card. Save up for a 7870 or 7950
