What is the point in the rep system theirs an option to negative rep people and when its done, it gets removed off the user within a day I mean wtf. Just though I'd make this thread purely for the fact that i think its stupid we have something, but you cant use it :S

Please post your thoughts and feedback.

If you need to neg-rep me you can do so, I just feel this needed to be said.

Members love the rep system. Any negative rep that is valid is not removed, at least not by me. Why do so many people complain about this? It's just a number.

I've added it to a numerous amount of people's profiles and its always removed I never stated anyone specifically I'm just saying what's the point in negative rep when it gets removed all the time.

I negative repped Chili yesterday, it was a valid negative rep guess what 6 hours later its removed of his profile?

Go away? The rep system defines people's attitude and how they associate with other members for the most part. I'm not stating that If you have 1 neg rep you're a scammer or you flame. Just simply stating that it give's you a way too see how/who that person is. The system is just currently flawed

Perfect explanation. Are we not entitled to our opinions on users, I mean that's what its their for right?

I agree with Superman, I don't see why people complain about this so much. The ones that are removed are probably invalid anyway.

So if I negative rep a user, because my reason being is an opinon on them such as I may not like the user it should not be deleted correct?

I'm just saying its stupid I had Chili aim me last night saying remove it off my profile because he removed it off mine, I didn't but someone did remove it now I've re-added it check my rep xD

It's a little too obvious that Chill seems to care about his reputation points.

In all honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing the rep system removed over-all.
Or, we could just remove negative reputation option and keep it to positives only, like on MyBB.com or something. I know it won't get implemented, but it's just my 2 cents.

If you're going to remove negatives, might as well just remove the whole system to begin with.

But I feel the rep system should stay. Because if you see a user with -60 rep, most likely you woudn't deal with that person.

But at the same time, just because a user has 700-800 rep doesn't mean he is automatically trusted and legit. Example: Hash.

Overall, the rep system is flawed, but that doesn't mean it has to be removed, maybe we should get a Moderator specifically just for the rep system.

It's not the rep system that's flawed, it's the staff members that remove it.
I've seen a good amount of negative (and positive I think) reputation get removed when they where just fine the way they were.

But, whatcha gonna do about it? Might as well just sit back and watch.

The only time negative reputation is useful and needed is if your site runs an active marketplace and uses reputation as its vouch tool. ForumKorner uses a separate vouch plugin, so why would you need to have negative reputation? It creates more issues than it solves (which is none).
