Welcome to the 5th edition of the RG News. @"Mirage" is out on vacation, and as thus, I'll be handling the writing this time around.
@Zach - It looks like Zach is getting closer to finally being gone for good. He's been chastised a few times here and there, but this is by far the most drastic of them.
@iHeartless - iHeartless has been banned this week, shortly after admitting to scamming another member.
@Blaze - As has another member, Blaze.
Buddy: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview, Carbon. Is there anything you'd like to say before we get started?
Carbon: Surprised I mattered enough to be interviewed. SHOUTOUT TO MY NIGGAS BACK IN THE GHETTO I MADE IT HI CRYSTUL HI ANGELO I LUV YOU GIRLS
Buddy: Do you have any plans for the holidays?
Carbon: Family, friends, and maybe some fishing.
Buddy: I wasn't aware people fished in the winter. Do you have any other outdoor hobbies we should know about?
Carbon: Well I do live in Florida, so it's warm year round. I enjoy riding bikes, outdoor firearm ranges, and the occasional camping trip.
Buddy: What about your online hobbies?
Carbon: Almost extinct, as far as gaming goes my PS3 is about as much as I game, life's busy you know? I'm still very active on 4chan, Operatorchan, and RG though.
Buddy: Well, you seem to have mixed reviews from other members. Where exactly do you see yourself?
Carbon: Where do I exactly see myself; That's a very complex question, father time hasn't been as kind as he should be. A lot of people see me as the prickish troll who doesn't nothing but shitpost and scam. I see myself as a old soul who went from the prime of a formor forum owner and over on RG as one of the main active staff to a member who knows a majority of members dislike strongly but still takes the time to help the average member with an e-lifetime of knowledge compiled over the years of in the field application.
Buddy: Do you think you'll make it back to where you were, and if not, will you try?
Carbon: That's already been answered to me by Mike, the ONLY way I would ever become a greenback is if I lose my Marketplace permissions. I'm completely fine with it, removes temptation and I really have no use for it anymore, I haven't played RS in almost a year and don't have a paypal anymore. I never really try for anything, if I'm the guy for the job I'm the guy. TE and Mike told me time and time again I was always a good staff member, a little stubborn but that's just who I am. When I take action it's equal and un-bias every time with no exceptions. A lot of members weren't used to that so complaints were natural.
Buddy: What is the allure of becoming a staff member if you have no personal hold in the basis of discussion?
Carbon: Originally, I was offered Staff before I registered. I owned one of the original runescape forums that ended up being merged into what you see today. I did it as a favor to TE, he was a major help towards my forum before it was shutdown due to hosting and content issues. I ended up bringing in Dykerosoft with me into the team, he was a Moderator on my forum and to this day is most likely the best staff member this forum has ever seen. I came into the forum as a staff member, I never had a real solid foundation with day to day discussions other then the help I would give when ever the need arised.
Buddy: That explains the drive, but it doesn't really explain the rationilized want. Is there anything you could add?
Carbon: Honestly, It would be nice to be generally accepted agian. The recognition I got as a staff member wasn't constant by any means, but it was always fuffilling to be able to handle scam reports and help members with more general needs. Moving threads, fixing signitures, some members would send reports to me via skype instead of reporting because they knew it would get handled within 15 seconds. It's nice to be needed I guess.
Buddy: How do you think your relationship with Mike affected your time on the forum?
Carbon: Well, he is the guy who offered me the job in the first place. So I wouldn't be on RG without him. He's a mirror image of me, the only reason he doesn't "troll"(Be straight forward, flame a little) is because of his forum status and he feels he needs to be a bit more professional which is very true. He does like to go back on his word, that's a major trait of his but all around he isn't a bad guy. Sometimes I think if he wasn't a admin certain forum situations would flow much easier, he's just too stubborn.
Buddy: How would you compare that to your own faults?
Carbon: My faults are very easy to spot, I'm a very honest and straight forward person. Not everyone likes that, but that's who I am. I don't change personas and give my account a facelift every time something "major" happens. If anything, I'm one of most easy to predict and stable members there's not much of a difference if I'm in a good mood or bad. I am a bit of a prick though, but don't mistake my confidence for having my head up my own ass.
Buddy: I think that'll do it. Is there anything you'd like to end with?
Carbon: It was a pleasure, and I'm glad someone took the time to hear what I have to say, maybe this interview will change some of the stigmas and rumors floating around RG, or maybe not but that's fine to.
Notable Threads
Lobby Sectional - Carbon has made a petition hoping to have himself elected as the lobby moderator. Keep watch here if you're interested in his attempt.
R.I.P. Rabbit - It may not have much to do with RG, but Immortality's pet rabbit has passed away recently. Most of us know what it's like to lose a pet. Good luck with everything, Immortality.
Staff Feedback - His name seems to be everywhere in this edition, but Carbon has posted a thread with his feedback on a few of the newer staff members. If you have anything to add, feel free to use this thread as a base.
1-99 summoning guide - The user Pichu has posted another helpful tutorial. This time it is on raising your summoning level. Feel free to check out the thread and post your feedback.
Windows vs Mac vs Linux/Ubuntu - These discussions don't seem too common these days, so I thought we would feature one. George has made a thread asking people for their opinions on the three largest kernels/OSes used today. We'd love to see what you have to say on the subject.
Nominate Yourself for an Award
The thread Mike opened up so that people can nominate themselves for an award that they think they deserve is still open and running. If you feel like you're lacking a piece of you, feel free to stop buy and post here.
Dedicated Gamers Contest
The contest to win a copy of Modern Warfare 3 is still going strong. Feel free to enter by making your way to this thread.

As one of the oldest threads on the site, it doesn't seem to get much action nowadays. It's really a shame to see it's decline, but I feel going through and giving it a little attention would do us some good. As we begin to approach the end of, yet another, year, it is good to look back and see in ourselves why we joined and became active in the first place. (Thread Here)
