RuneGear IRC?

If I'm honest, it would be spammed, and it's not needed.

We're not that big of a forum. HF only got one like, 5 months ago? We don't need one IMHO. Would take away the activity of the forum.

Every forums that have ShoutBox or IRC have problems with bans and spam, so I think it wouldn't work here. It is just a headache.

Eh, I'm not a fan of IRC. Why not just have an official Runescape clan chat and that's it?

Internet Relay Chat. so no.

Users on RG don't post that much and To beet the boot even if we had a TC room people wouldn't talk in there
I don't think many people would sit in IRC to talk to much

And if they did it most likely would be kids advertising and what not =/

But don't get me wrong there would be some people who use it but yea Not that much that it would be worth getting one
People use skype and we get by just as good =)

But I don't know nehkz. Maybe you could try and link us to the IRC... We can see what happens and then decide if we stay or not with IRC. Also... I don't know how to OP otherwise I could help you out.

Yeah, I could try but I would need help setting up the bots, modes etc.

Also, an OP is basically an admin.

I doubt it would work now, not enough members and it would just encourage spamming/flaming.

I've been an IRC user for the past... 7 years now? In all honesty; I like the idea. And all the reasons you guys are giving "Flaming, spamming, hassle, headache, control"... all those things; Those are things bad ops don't know how to take care of. Being fluent in mIRC code, There's ways to beat spam. There's ways to beat flaming. There's ways to beat anything and everything.

Most IRC's around today are skiddies that download an IRCd, Anope or another handle for irc-services and expect everything to just go and work. Well, they're retarded. There's a reason Efnet and Gamesurge and Quakenet have survived; They aren't idiots.

I'll get off of my soapbox now.

EDIT: And the problem every community faces is "HW 1 G3T 0N IRKSCS?" No matter how many guides on CONNECTION TO THIS NETWORK THROUGH THIS CLIENT you put up, It will never be enough.

I was just thinking the same thing. Well, I was wondering if RG had an IRC, but I guess this answers my question. I think we need one.
