Antivirus​

I will recommend all the readers to always use and Anti virus with your PC. It is a good choice to choose the anti virus recommended by Microsoft for you Windows.
1. If you are using Win XP Then select the antivirus from here
2. If you are using Win 7 Then select the antivirus from here
3. If you are in Win Vista then upgrade it :evil: , else use this list for selection of anti virus.

AntiMalware​

I would highly recommend you using malwarebytes Antimalware.
It is the best software for the detection of viruses and other things.
In the free version you can't get real time protection, premium version has this support.
2. Winpatrol is a very good system companion that moniters the changes in your system produced by any software and informs you about it. It is available here.

Anti-spyware​

It is also necessary that you have anti spyware for the system as well. The best tools i suggest are adaware antispyware and superantispyware.

Keyscrambler​

Keyscrambler is the best tool for the protection against the keylogger and the other Rat server that captures your key stroke. Keyscrambler encrypts the Keystroke that helps you save your pc.

Firewall​

A firewall is very important tool and allows you to check against any program that is demanding access to the Internet. I recommend using it and Comodo or Zonealarm firewall.

Free on-line scanner​

You can always refer ESET online scanner as it is very good and removes most of the infection. It is available here.

OTL And Hijack This​

It is a very important tool that helps you analyze your system for various tools and root kits present.
HijackThis is a tool meant only to be used by those who are trained in malware removal. Do not use HijackThis because it is outdated now and people aren't supposed to analyze their own logs.

OTL has now replaced HJT. So, scans are done using OTL nowadays. (After doing scans with OTL, you can't do anything with it yourself, so you will have to post it in the HF's HJT sub-section).

OTL (and even HJT) are used to detect and remove the virus, not for prevention.

Protection against other things.​

You should change the settings of adobe flash player to always deny as it is very dangerous.
The active X is very dangerous and more can be read by googling about it.
