Serious PC help [Video]

Toshiba Equium A100 laptop
Completely black screen on startup so please don't say go into safe mode etc, because I can't. I can't see a thing.

Like once in every 100 goes it will come on and I can F12 to boot from the format disk but it eventually freezes before completion.

Video showing what's happening - BTW the buttons you see me pressing are Fn+F5 I've heard that that sometimes works, but yeah, it didn't.

Sounds to me like you've got a virus. When was the last time you downloaded an exe file?

EDIT: I didn't watch the video, but what it seems like is your Hard drive has crashed. You'll need to either take this to a repair shop, or buy a new HD.

He can't run hijackthis. Look at the video. He can't get into windows.


You may have accidently changed your video output settings on the laptop to a monitor or something. Other than that, it might be you screen dying, or the cable from the Motherboard to the screen. This can sometimes wear out due to the constant opening and closing of the laptop lid.

Yeah I realized that after I watched the video. I thought it could maybe be his hard drive. If he could at least get it booted, he should do a system restore.

Not sure if laptops have CMOS battery. But try removing it for 10 minutes and put it back in.

Yer the have CMOS, but you have to remove the motherboard to get to it.

I don't run with the battery in, just power plug.
