Should cigarettes be illegal?

I've heard many reasons why cigarettes should become illegal and Marijuana legal. But let's focus on this topic and reasoning.

I think they should be illegal because it assists in the killing of popular diseases in most of the world. (Cardiac or Respiratory diseases)

@OP, i think they should be. But the only problem with that, is that there would be riots all over the world. No doubt; it'd be close to WWIII.

Cigs are disgusting. They were the cause of the death of my great grandmother. I hate being around anyone who smokes.

As Angel stated, too many people would be getting arrested since so many people are actually addicted to this. Although it all goes back into history being the reason of it being legal. Although no matter what, I think it should become illegal because of the amount of deaths it causes every year, terrible.

I would say that they could be illegal but the prohibition wouldn't be effective at all. Just like prohibition of weed isn't working.

But, if people want to smoke tobacco let em' smoke it. It's their own life that they are hurting.

yes they should, because if you think about in England its illegal to commit suicide, and smoking is like suicide but much much much slower, soo it should be illegal over here, ahhaha just away around it

You can die for eating/drinking/using too much of anything, I think cigarette should be illegal because they have a high risk of death at first use.

Never in a million years will we ever get cigarettes to be illegal. That is too unrealistic. And if it's one thing that never worked, it's prohibition. I honestly don't know why marijuana isn't legal.

Cigarettes aren't going to be illegal, ha.
Do you know how much profit cigarette companies make? (I don't, but my teacher told me a few years ago)

Absolutely not. It's FAR too late to outlaw cigarettes worldwide. Firstly it wouldn't even be possible, the tobacco companies have way too much money to just be shut down, they'd throw a fight and negotiate. Also, it's unlikely everyone would come to that agreement.
And the reason it should not be illegal, is because too many people are addicted, and taking cigarettes away will create SUCH conflict.

Addicts gonna addict. You can't take away an addicts addiction. You just can't

I don't believe cigarettes should be illegal. I work at Rite Aid, and I don't go a day without selling a good 10 - 20 packs myself, excluding the other associates who ring up customers, cigarettes are part of the economy. Might as well keep them.

This. ^ It will be like a war.

People smoke because they want to, they're not that dumb, they know that it is unhealthy. If you don't want to smoke because you don't want to die, simple: Don't smoke and let the others do what they want.

Smoking is a pleasure but it is extremely unhealthy. I smoke tobacco every day and weed every week, but this is my "fault". Just live your life as you want to. Relax.
