Should health care be free?

In the united states health care isnt free. Do you think it should be free? I know that tax dollars pay for the health care so really its not free but you know what I mean. Why or why not?

Here in the Philippines health care is also not free. But I think health care system in the US is better than ours. If you have medical insurance then you wont have any problems. As with everything else, taxes pay for everything. Or else where will they get the money for the free medical health benefits. The poor people here are the ones who suffer mostly because how will they pay for the medical insurance if they first and foremost dont have the money to buy the medicines. I wish the government will be more helpful to health care system in our country.

Of course it should be free! but government can get taxes from rich people so that the poor can get it free too! It's a good idea for health care to be free so that many people can stay healthy and serve the country. But Most Government will not take this risk if it's not benefitial to them.So yeh..there you have it, wish the whole world get health care for free!

Of course it should be free! but government can get taxes from rich people so that the poor can get it free too! It's a good idea for health care to be free so that many people can stay healthy and serve the country. the health care should be 100% free. the US is pretty behind all the other civilized countrys in the world... if you see, praticly all the countrys in europe (for example). You would pay more taxes but your life costs more than some extra bucks at the end of the month.

Life for example, with the fireman. Do you pay to them? no, thats included in the taxes. And why? because its a BASIC service that is vital to the health of the people. Health care is as important or even more than fireman

Yes. insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should and its Because it was morally indefensible for it not to be.

Yes it must be but unfortunately it is not although in my country people like Imran Khan who build Cancer hospital for poor are doing very good jo for humanity and poor but most of the population is suffering because of high rates of health items. SO I think at least basic health must be free.

The bad thing is, we have to pay a lot more taxes than usual... but health comes first!

I live in Canada as well, so we don't have to pay for health care. I don't think we pay a lot of tax @HuntedCow. USA still pays more than us.

USA does not pay more taxes than us. Are you crazy? Our taxes on products are 13%. Their taxes are way lower than that.

Why do you think Canadians cross the border just to shop in the USA? To pay less taxes.

LOL. Things in the USA are way more expensive though. A pair of Jordan's cost like $400 while over here we pay $150-200. Im not sure about the tax but the prices there are ridiculous. I'm 18 btw.

well in today's world no service is free.somebody has to pay if not you.doctors are also human and they also need to live a livelihood.but yes charging a lot of fund for a small illness can surely be put in check as big names and big hospitals charge a lot of fees.

Did we talk about prices? No. We talked about taxes. This thread has nothing to do with prices of things.

In fact, it doesn't even have to do with taxes. I just stated that Canada pays lots of taxes, so in return, we get free healthcare.

Of course health care should be free.If you're not worried about your health.In the U.S. we can't trust our government with the simplest of things.Why should we trust them with our health?
It should be better regulated,but it should never be free.Remember,you get what you pay for.
