Should Staff be allowed to remove Rep on them?

I'm going to use Jimmy as in example here. And man, don't close this automatically. I'm speaking the truth.

I gave him a neutral rep yesterday, saying he needs to relax a bit and have a laugh. Well, about 2 hours later, it's removed. Back to 100% positive rep. The whole concept of rep'ing someone, is to give an honest opinion. Now, when someone removes their honest opinion (if it's rude, then do it) and explains why someone is negative or neutrally rep'd, why are staff then removing it? It seems in my perspective they HAVE to have a "perfect image" of themselves. That wasn't the idea of rep to favor staff members. It was for anyone to give their honest opinion on someone.

I don't believe staff should be allowed to do this, but quite frankly that is Philly's decision to make. I do like how you are speaking your mind though.

Preach cabbage, preach! And yeah, your concept does make alot of sense. The whole point of rep is your honest opinion about someone, as long as it's just that. I've seen people get neg-repped for pointless nonsense such as their username. Good thread Cabbage, this should be a good debate

As long as it is within reason. I mean, if I got my neutral rep removed off Bob for saying "Please be more considerate of others" I would be mad.

In my opinion the rep system has always been all about who you know, people can negative rep people all day long, but as long as the victim of the rep fuckage is on decent grounds with the right people it is removed, i honestly think that the rep shit should be removed for a while, and make people start all over again, any stupid shit like " slackerslackerslackerslacker" should be removed instantly i think that people should treat the rep system with some seriousness lol i do look at it sometimes before i deal with people and do take it into consideration.

I agree, the rep at the moment is just people asking for rep back if I'm honest. Rep should be given if they are helping people on FK, legit member (always friendly etc) or smooth deals and stuff.

Exactly. And nothing is being done about people(Example: Beats) that rep others and ask for a rep back.

Completely ruins the rep system.

Staff members should not be able to remove their own negative reputations.

That is pretty much like saying we can not voice our opinion on them because they are of a higher power.

I think the whole fucking rep report system should be removed. My god, when I was on this site just to piss people off I'd put "this kid is faggot dont like this faggot" and the shit got removed. It's overall retarded. Unless it's like a rep saying scammer without a report, I think it should stay.

Reputation is an opinion. I don't see a problem if he does that, to be honest. He's just sharing what he thought of the other user, but the other user shares on what he thinks of him. It's kind of like revenge rep, except vice versa


Way too many people would complain about the reputation system being removed.

LOL, a lot of people probably bought an upgrade so they can rep. I mean other reasons too, but some people probably bought a upgrade for rep as a main privilege.

Or, we should have a rep moderator.

Like JD on HF. The moderator would have a private section to himself/herself. Also, he would have the ability to delete any kind of neg except for an admins/greater status.

When I used to get bad rep I would just hit a mod up on AIM and get it removed.. or fuck the kid who dun it. But, I don't actually see why there are rules at all when only a few are enforced. Jack staff accounts > don't get banned. Jack user accounts > don't get banned. Obtain IP's from staff members > fuck kids up.

To answer the question: no, Jimmy should not be allowed to remove his own rep.
