Should the rich be required to pay higher taxes in the US?

the rich should pay more taxes. The rich have municipal bond interest, annuities, tax free foundations, wages that are exempt from social security taxes. Of course their rates should be higher.
With any level of income, the more you make, the higher tax bracket you move into.Poor people pay taxes according to how much they have, so why shouldn't the rich be required to as well? When the wealthy used to pay their fair share (before they bought out the government), this country was economically healthy, and everyone benefited from a stable economy.
We have a government based on our choice, so don't point fingers.

I agree on what you're saying, plus, the whole lower taxes creates more jobs is total BS (it may have worked in the past, but not at all now).

I don' t think that a person should be penalized because they are wealthy, so no I don't think they should have to pay way more taxes. I think all people should pay the same, but that is not how it works.

yes they should pay more.when they earn more then why not pay more.i guess it works that way isn't it?but rich one don't show up all their black money or else they would be laid down with heavy taxes.poor people don't have any black money to hide and pay taxes honestly.i think their should be frequents audits in office of big business person so that they can't hide their income and have have to pay real tax.

I also think that it is not right to penalize a person with higher taxes just because they are rich. Some people are rich because they worked their hearts out, why should they suffer paying more taxes?

if someone is more successful in there life they shouldn't need to pay higher taxes, its just wrong.
just because poor people don't have the same options does not mean the government can tax them for actually becoming successful

I think it depends on how you're getting rich.If you own a business that makes more than $250,000 and it creates jobs for others then you shouldn't have to pay more.
If you're getting rich because you're some bigwig for a Fortune 500 company,you should have to pay more.Either that or they can take a big pay cut and have that money go to their hardworking employees.

Well I do not live in the US but here in Canada if someone was rich then yes they should. A old lady that lives beside me just won 6.2 million...I was pissed -.-

I think there should be tax slabs according to that they have to pay the taxes..That means for slab 1 ten percentage and for slab two twenty percentage, like that...So it won't be a burden for everybody...
