Shout Box for Upgraded Member's only

I was thinking. On most forums the upgraded members aren't to good at talking with each others and making the forum a nice and better community.
I think a way to make this forum nice and successful would to install a Chat Box for upgraded members only. This can help the upgraded members to contact Staff and Mods alot easier, While staying in contact with each other. I understand we all (most of us) use AIM and Skype but I think it would be alot more efficient to give the Upgraded members a little bit of a better way to contact staff especially if the staff is backed up with PM's or other things they do, We all have things to do in life.

Tell me what you guys think and or feel about this.

I think this is a good idea but I think it should ONLY be allowed for Power uprgraders !

I am currently working on setting up an irc. It will be here, forumkorner.com/irc.php having a few problems though. Should have it up soon though.

irc is best, a shoutbox is a horrible look.
In my years of webmaster I have learned that one must stay away from such things.

Shoutbox's aren't the best in the world, But I feel there should be some type of in-site chat system for the members who paid. They should get some kind of special something to contact the staff.
I think it would be a whole shit load better if a staff member gets a PM or Instant message when someone says something that involves a staff members name in it.
ect. (@Philly How are you)
And of course certain things should be black listed.
P.S. I am not trying to make this site like twitter. I just think some features like that would be great for a chat system.

You think so because this forum has not grown to its full potential, this additions will become a headache further down the road. Believe me.
Would you want hundreds of pms because someone says your name in a post? Many member suck up to administrators and moderators therefore their names would be said extensively. As for shoutboxs, they can be corrupted with ease. I think staff should have the option to talk to you, not vise versa.

So your saying we as the members of this site shouldn't have the right to talk to are staff when we feel needed? That is honestly terrible for you to even say that. yeah it gets a little hectic being staff. But that is not a excuse to act distant to members.
And I think your a little mistaken. I didn't want and or suggest the (@Philly thing system) to be implemented in the actually forum, But to be implemented into the shoutbox for upgraded members.

Well there is another forum I am on and it has a Shoutbox and it looks and functions great. So I don't think they are that bad.

Socially yes, if you have an urgent need you can pm them.
I believe thats what the pm system is for, the shoutbox is bad for security reasons.

It would be for upgraded user's only. I don't see how this would be a bad security measure.
Please explain

I will not go on to explain the exploits of an shoutbox. I believe hacking is disallowed?
I am in no way saying you shouldn't have contact with staff, I am just saying there is other ways to do so.

I like the IRC chat and the shoutbox area. If you need to contact a staff member, there is an entire sub-forum called private inquiries dedicated to that!

Most forums with a IM chat-box/shout-box sort of thing usually aren't very successful.

It brings a lot more problems to the table as well, most of the time.
