Reptarr's Signature Tutorial #2

1. Begin with a signature size canvas of your choice (recommended 400x150).

2. Now open up a stock of something (mine's a stock of a city).

3. Now open up your render and paste it in either the left side or right side (no centre)

4. Now make sure your foreground color is on black and go to your gradient tool and select the FG to transparent gradient and make a new layer above your stock layer and make sure the render layer is above the new layer.
Now stroke from the opposite direction of where you put your render and make sure you're stroking from the upper corner.
And do this on the new layer you just made (don't stroke it full way just halfway).

5. Now if you want your stock to be a little more bright then, duplicate your stock once and for the most top stock layer set the mode for that layer to screen and lower the opacity if you want.
If you want it to be less bright then do the same thing except set the mode to multiply and set the opacity down a little, you may want to for multiply (after you done that then merge the two stock layers together, you don't have to do this part. It's just some extra).

6. Now for your stock layer go to filters -> blur -> motion blur and follow these settings:
Blur type: Zoom
Length: 118 or whatever you like
Andgle: 0

7. Make a new layer over your stock layer, get any brush you like and brush over your new layer JUST A LITTLE BIT.
Now set the mode for that layer to whatever you like, I got mine on hard light.

8. Make a new layer above your stock layer and get your paint tool and select the sparks brush, then brush just JUST A LITTLE over your new layer and set it to whatever you feel fits best (I set mine to divide).

9. This is optional, if you want, you can smudge the sparks on your new layer with your circle soft brush just a little.
I recommend you doing it.

10. Duplicated your render layer and for the render you just duplicated which should be the top one let it stay, but the one under it select it and get your smudge tool. (Before you begin smudging duplicate the layer you're gonna smudge).

11. Now smudge the layer that is under the duplicated layer, don't go wild. Just smudge gently on the edges.

12. Now for the render layer under that one which you should have if you followed step 10 correctly, go to filters -> blur -> pixelize and set the settings to whatever you want. I set mine to both 11.

13. After that smudge your pixelize render layer a little.

14. Now duplicated your top render layer twice with a total of three render layers.

15. Okay, now you need to set the top render layer of those three to multiply and lower the opacity a little. I adjusted mine to 73.6. Now for the layer under that, lower that opacity a little, I set mine down to 81.8
Now for the final render layer, the one under that. Set it to a mode you like, I got mine to dodge. Leave the opacity to 1.00.

16. Now smudge that layer gently with your circle soft brush.

17. Now create a new layer above your sparks brush layer and go to filters -> artistic -> GIMPressionist.
Then there should be a window popping up. Select it as ballpark and don't apply it, then hit ok. Set it to screen or whatever
fits your liking (make sure you fill your new layer with white first).

18. Now time to make it look better.
Make a new layer at the very top, and for that new layer get out a effect, and edit it to make it look better. Erase what you don't like. And set it to a mode you like (make sure your effects match the render when you put it in, check if it works with the render or not).

19. Add in another effect and do the same.

20. Now add a c4d in and do the same.
You can get a c4d by going to www.planetrenders.net and search for c4d.

21. Keep doing this until you get something you like (don't go overboard).

22. Now if you want it to be colored, so it will work with the render more follow this step if not then go straight to the last
step.

23. Merge all the layers together and go to color -> color balance and set the settings to what you like until you get a color you think best matches the render.

24. Re-paste your render in and past it exactly where you put your render last time, except make it just a bit smaller.
That way it will give some mirror kind of effect

25. Add a border then add a text and you're done!

Sweet tutorial, especially for Gimp. I'm glad you're participating in my contest.

Thanks , I'd thought since not a lot of people know/use gimp, I would make couple of tutorials.

Good tutorial, I like how it's different from ones where you scatter the render all over then just blur them to make a bg.
