Jagex just posted a news update about bots. Apparently they are killing the ability for clients to use reflection. Which they depend on.

Anyone that is familiar with the way the bot clients work can you give insight on how botting can continue if unable to use reflection like they say?

Also they got some pretty sweet bonuses going on, can't help but think this is a
"Guys you can't bot anymore but pleaaasseeee still play the game, here, have free exp and whatnot, but just stayyyyy!!"

Will you continue to play RS if you can't bot? I know it's rising trend to actually bot the game, as if that's the game. So you setup up your bots, watch your levels grow, get capes etc... To some that is how they play.

I've mainly done everything I needed to do with bots, so I'm not too depressed by it. I was only botting useless skills now just to have them up.
Future quest req's will bother me though.
Before bots I just never trained skills really...

Your Thoughts?

Did you even read the article? if anything they are doing the 3x zeal to rub it in the botters face.

All reflection bot's a.k.a all soul war bots will be broken before hand.

Yes I "even read the article". But I sincerely have my doubts that Jagex will successfully break all reflection bots by then. Over the past couple of years, it appears scripters and coders are just as advanced as the people over at Jagex Ltd.

Edit: also i'm 99% sure RsBuddy uses injection anyway, NOT reflection.

Yep:

RSBuddy uses injection, where the client hacks RS to find out code and data directly and then covers up its tracks with many, many algorithms to make it safe for use.

They can kill reflections, but everyone will just move back to botting with SCAR. Also, rsbuddy could be remade to run off ingame colors, rather then id's.

They will NEVER stop bots, just slow them down.

In most probability it won't effect RSBuddy at all, as RSBuddy uses injection (whereby data is hacked from RS and then tracks are covered making it safe) whereas neXus uses reflection whereby the client reads data as best it can. WE ARE NOT FUCKED.

So in essence, RsBuddy is going to get a fuckload more traffic, Jagex is going to mass ban a ton of their users for botting on that day, and Nexus will switch from reflection to injection, and the cycle of botting will begin again until mass ban 2k12.

So what does this do?



If it's just there to trick everyone into thinking it uses reflection when really it's injection, why admit that now? Should of kept it a secret and bought more time while Jagex try and figure out how the client still runs undetected post-no reflection.

Also if you can remember SCAR days you'll know it sucked compared to where we are now. Hardly anyone botted then cause it wasn't worth it.
All you could do was chop a tree and bank, mine a ore and bank. So if Jagex does get everyone reverted back to using SCAR (or something similar) it's a big victory, many players will just stop botting.

Also if the client has to be re-written, so does all the scripts, but they will need to wait for the client to be done first.
A lot of the scripters only really know how to script for rsbuddy, it's where they learnt.
So it'll take them longer to adjust also.

RSBuddy and other bot sites rely on regular players to bot for their income. Gold farmers aren't the ones buying waterfiend bots.

I'm pretty intrigued as to what will happen. Many possibilities.

The ban rate for Soul Wars will go through the roof that day. Not a wise choice

They wouldn't release an update with hype like this unless they tested it first...

So i am sure it will work.

so saying this is another one of those bullshit ideas they have to crack down on bots and fail?
 
They say they are cracking down and I'm sure they might be on some botters, but the prices wont go up.

The reflection will be down for maybe a week or two max. but i'm sure the bot devs will figure out an alternate way. Botting won't die. I'm sure of that. but this may be a pretty substantial massban/ blow to bots, hence all the hype. but on the good side, prices will go up.
 
I don't want bots to come to an end, but JaGex aren't complete morons, they did code the game if you didn't realize, they're the ones running the multi-million dollar corporation, a few college graduates that majored in some sort of game coding may be real smart in the department but JaGex can stop Reflection and Injection if they want to and will cause the developers to make a whole different way to make a bot for the game. This will take time and effort, don't all be smart asses saying their company can't upgrade their systems to stop reflection and injection. They said 98% of the bots will break leaving RiD the only bot working as it runs off colour and some other things or whatever. Just my 2 cents.
