Okay, my suggestion is that RG points would be given out when someone likes your post, because it helped them. This would be much easier to check if someone cheated etc.

And I mean... 1k points can be gained in a couple of minutes/hours, and the thread wouldn't be considered low quality.

Yeah but then people could just be liking all their friends posts.

People could even exchange money/rep/vouches/cash for liking every one of their posts.

Well, what goes faster, one like or one post? Also, likes can be checked if duped. If TE, any administrator got common sense, which they do, they will be a little bit suspicious when the same 20 people liked the last 10 posts.

Not many people use "likes" anyway, unless it's something extremely funny.

It isn't necessarily about what goes faster, if it goes faster then that means it does for everyone else.

Likes are next to useless besides making RuneGear a little more friendlier.

Taking likes into a competition would be a HORRIBLE idea.

Have fun TE and Mike counting all the like given for every single post and every single thread.

Posts are accumulated together, they know how many are going on, they have absolutely no idea how many likes are happening.

No, or extremely helpful. Which would actually be good?

It would be good, but extremely impractical.

Yes some people like helpful threads.

Maxie, if RuneGear was a perfect community, this would be a great idea.

But the like system will be over abused, you will see likes on every thread.

With posts at least they can attempt to manage that.

Not to mention then no one would buy RG Elite or Sponsor to get extra points.

Also The Elite does posts to make the forums far more active, how will likes help either of TE main priorities? (Upgrades and Activity)

They can get upgrades anyway, in the same way. Would still be active because people would try to get likes instead.

But Maxie, he does this competition so people tend to post more, so it builds up for activity, such as more threads, posts which makes the "stats" on RG higher.

Likes don't increase the activity of the forum..

People who are spamming will get their just deserts.

However on the topic or RGPoints they should have a higher amount of characters to earn a point. But keep Minimum character limit for a post as it is.

The thing is that if someone has posted something that really couldn't have been expanded would look stupid.
If someone says, "wow, cool look at that", than obviously they are just wanting some quick points.
Anyway, they are hard enough to earn.

If a person gains 1k posts In a few hours Please direct me to them Either I'm going to give them some money or Tell them to stop with the auto spammer

@[Oxide]
TE already made it pretty flexible so Posting in the lobby you don't get points but Other sub sections you get more points then others So you get rewarded for The subsections that get less activity

Bad idea, the Guide section will be full of copied threads from other forums.
