[SOLVED] RuneGear.

You're trying to run a forum, and yet you insist on insulting it's members.
You give someone who's been here for barely a month a staff position (nothing personal bud).
Sure, the guy may be a HQ user, but that has nothing to do with the qualities that make a staff member. You can't justify such a decision with "Oh the guy's more HQ then everyone." That just screams stupidity.
Trust, integrity, commitment.. Those qualities aren't defined in a month.

How did you even come across such a decision? There's no need for more staff, the place is dead enough and should be easily managed by the 5 staff that previously existed.



If you want to run a forum, stop slapping your members in the face, stop disrespecting them and for once, do your goddamn job.

Number One rule for Staff, don't ask for it or don't expect it. You were actually extremely high up there for Staff, not anymore sadly.

People fathom to see how we work, we knew you're a contributive member and this was a test to see that those who bitch are in no way deserving of that position.

If you guys don't like it, no one is forcing you to stay, leave, go, whatever. We run our forum the way we want to, you pay for hosting, the time spent monitoring it and other features, then you'll have a say in how we run our forum.

We saw something in Bcg that we rarely see in other members. Members here assume they know how things function, complaining that:

Just because quality doesn't make a member a good Staff member, fair argument - although they compare that to Vanquish and ADW. They then ask us to discriminate based on joining date, yet those 2 examples also had a long joining date and still f*cked up? Logic failure right there.

Pay for hosting? What, do you pocket the RG Elite and Sponsor funds do you? And all the adsense? We do pay for it. We're not asking for a big say.

Since when is an opinion frowned upon like you're dismissing us right now?

Like I said in my status - George deserved it, BCG would have if he was around a little longer. If you were to promote him in 3-5months time, would anyone care? NOPE!

What kind of low end "test" do you think this is? If you announced your decisions, things I'm sure would have turned out quite differently.
Your members are simply curious. If you had of made an announcement, justified your decisions to the members here who put so much time into making this forum what it is, I'm sure many would accept it.

I'm bitching, if you want to call it that, about how this forum is managed, the fact that management constantly keep member's uninformed and how members here are treated.
Take myself for example..
I put a considerable amount of time, something that can't be taken back, into making the user bars for this forum.
Did anyone say thanks? No.
I was then asked to make more for the seperate groups that arose. I was kind enough to do so.
Did anyone say thanks? Again, no.
I then even bothered to resize them and edit them somewhat to fit better with the new and old theme respectively.
Again, nothing. People took my own work for their own. Point proven when this happened..

I've given ideas for improvements. I've pointed out numerous bugs found in this forum.
Do I feel even slightly appreciated? No, and I bet there's others who may feel like this.
After god knows how long, I had to put it out there..

And then there's this.

You ask for respect..
I don't see how Mike, for one, is deserving of such a thing, if he even knows what it is. I'm not trying to be negative here, or come across as a dick, quite the contrary, but as part of management you should never insult your own members.
I respect the fact that this forum exists, and the time that people put into it, and I'm sure many others do to.
Maybe you, management as a whole, should respect us.



You've done considerably well so far RAF..
All that's being asked is for members to be informed and appreciated.

You're not LQ, you're actually one of the best members on this forum - and if many of you think we don't like members more than others, we do, but we don't treat them any different.

The story behind that so-called PHP developer fell through. He worked on a few things such as fixing the Nudges plugin, fixing awards, etc. He's just too busy but will still help around with RG.

I always answer PMs that need answering, sometimes I may forget and sometimes I feel the PM is undeserving of an answer.

If you had made a thread, it'd all be in one thread, and then at least some could've appreciated the reason why this was done.
If people can't understand something, they'll react negatively, which is what a lot have done.

I can't comment about Bcg, I'm new and I don't know him, but I'm sure other people may have been staff worthy, but bcg is the one you trusted most for the position and at the end of the day, you're the only one that's gonna get blamed for it.
Not everyone is gonna be happy no matter what type of decision you make.
You made the one you thought was right, even though you knew the outcome and the reactions you'd receive.
That I respect, he must actually be the right guy in your mind.

This. A "b*tch-fest" is unavoidable going by your logic. Explaining your reasoning would mean that members can appreciate and understand your decisions. Ever notice that people are simply confused? You promote someone and the only reason you're willing to give is that "no one would understand".
You don't know if you don't try. It's hard to convince a community of your decisions when you insist they're stupid.
