You should try some more advanced stuff than clipping masks.

I believe that you used Clipping Mask?
If you did next time use Drop Shadow and it will look much better!

I was going to add drop shadow to it, but then changed my mind, looking back on it I think I should have

@C4, ive literally only started photoshop today, for the first time ever. I might as well learn the basics first, right?

Sure. But clipping masks are boring for text.
Play around with gradients and bevel&emboss (layer styles).

All of these were just made while practising, so they aren't that great.
