[Suggestion] Speed up FK

Lately I've noticed FK has been slowing down my browser a lot, and on my MacBook I'm unable to run ANYTHING with FK open.

I think users should have the option to disable the gif behind the header, and minimize the online users list.
The gif in the header causes extreme lag on older computers and may cause slight lag on newer ones with decent specs.

All the animations in the online users list also causes quite a bit of lag on computers that don't have great specs.

This is basically a necessity for users with older computers.

You could just view it from basic mode, basically the dumbed down version. I forgot where to find the settings though.

No offense but this kind of sounds like a personal problem.

Yeah, but then the site looks really ugly : /
Having the ability to disable the gif background and minimize the online users list is an easy way to give the site a performance boost

Forum Korner runs fine even with 10 tabs open (@Philly mode). I can run all the programs I want on my iMac and the forum still operates as it should.

Kind of, but I'm sure that it would deter people with older computers from using the site.

This sounds like a personal problem that you are facing.
Even on older computers an image wouldn't be what is slowing down the entire computer.

I normally have a lot of programs and tabs open I've never lagged on fk so I think it's just something wrong with your PC because I don't lag at all and I have shit internet too lel.

Idk, FK slows down my computer to a crawl. It's the only site that does it, even when I have only 1 tab open.
Hasn't happened until the gif thing was added.

Might just be my computer, but I just find it strange that it's the only site that does this and that it's only happened since that was added.

What browser are you using on the older computer?

Tried it on Chrome, Safari, and Firefox on my Mid-2007 MacBook running 10.7.5
All browsers are the most recent version, and my MacBook has custom 4GB ram.

Tested it with AE open, with a project loaded, AI with a project, InDesign with a project, and PS with a project.
None of these programs being opened or closed made an impact on the performance, only FK running seems to do it.

It's probably just your computer or browser, or a combo of both. It's not the site by any means. I'm on a dell XPS using Firefox and have no problems at all.

I'll try to do some research for you on this issue.
Will get back to you in an hour or so with proper diagnostics and information regarding this issue.
