Hey guys.
I was just curious with mucking around creating and designing my own forum, of course I don't expect anything to become of it as I'm just testing around using a free hosting forum site (forumotion) and I just wanted your guys opinions on how to create a successful site.

Although, currently I can't afford to purchase a domain + hosting (I'm only in College and do not currently have a job) is there any possible way to add downloadable mods as it appears I can only currently use prebuilt mods within the forumotion website.

So, what do you believe makes a successful forum? Excluding the personality/quality of your members.

What add-ons + mods do you suggest?
Where is a good starting place?
Where should I look to learn on how to expand?
How do I want to advertise?
What advertising methods are the most efficient?

Just a few questions that you answering could potentially help me out, thanks a lot!

I remember there used to be a leak of all the paid addons for myBB and a lot of them that Omni made on HF, but it was on my old computer.

And the best advice I could give you I guess is use your brain. You have to think about what would attract other people. Take a look at non-successful forums and successful forums and look at the differences.

Education systems are different I believe.
College in AU practically represents high school (years 7-12) so the ages of roughly 12-18 (depending how early/late you started)

Would you call University what Americans call College/University?
