The "How Would You" Thread

Basically how this works is I'll post a question here every day asking how you would you carry out something, and you guys can share your opinions in the comments and debate. I wouldn't mind a spirited debate with some other members, and I will be posting my own views as well.

Question: How would you explain dying to a child? Would you tell them that one day they'll die and that's the end/go to heaven, or that they'll live forever, etc.?

I myself find this a pretty hard question to answer. On one hand I don't want to worry my child knowing that one day they'll die and that's the end for them, as I myself think about that a lot and it's pretty depressing. On the other hand I don't want to feed them lies and say there's a heaven as I myself don't believe in those things. It comes down to being honest and possibly making them sad, or lying and giving them hope with faiths I myself don't believe in. I guess faiths is going to win at the moment until a certain point where they realize for themselves.

Answer: I would tell them that when someone dies they go to heaven. But they'll still be with you just watching from above, something like that.

Answer: I'd tell them that there is no way to know what happens when you die, and the best thing we can do is love and enjoy the life you're in.

Answer:
Son, there's a point in life where you must ... not live anymore...
its where you go to a better place and see all of your loved ones.
OR!!! science will let us live forever. by the time your old enough there will be a cure for death

Son, I want you to go out, get laid and have the most fun times in your life when you are a teenager and of course, able to legally do it. In time you might not be here, and let's face it. When you die you basically lose everything, your soul, your heart, your brains forever. I can't say much to where you can go as nobody can come back from the dead to tell us, but all I know is that it will be better than Earth.

So Please, Son, Go out and have fun. When your 18, if you can get a hot brunette as your first time, Ill give you $5000.

Answer; Listen kid, when you die, you die. Their may be a chance of an after life but we would never know for sure. Just do good in life and you will get good things in return.

But don't do good just to expect good do good because you feel it is the right thing to do. One last thing, I love you son.

I would tell them that when people are dead that they are just sleeping for a long time, and that they dont want to be woke up any more.
Or if my kid was smarter then that shit (like i was) id explain that when god decides that some one has lived there life the best they could that he lets them come visit them and live in heaven.
