I'll be the devils advocate here. Their decision to keep the child is unfair to the rest of society. Their children will take so much from society yet give nothing back.
So it's unfair to the society that a parent wants to keep his or her child?
I think it's just you being selfish.
If you have a son/daughter that has something wrong with her/him, i want you to kill him/her with your bare-hands.
Bare hands was never implied. But is it not selfish of the parent to take the funding and time of others to give to their child who won't be able to contribute or even "enjoy" life. Think of those who are in need, if they received funds they could still become active contributing members of society.

Well i didn't actually mean bare hands. Also, it is not selfish to keep someone's child alive even though they can't contribute anything to society. If the parent loves their child enough i think they should be allowed to enjoy what little part of life that they can.
IMO:
1. I think if they have the mid-level retardation, then I believe they should be allowed to try and live a normal life. As they can still offer towards society and live a nice life.
2. If the case is extreme, and they wouldn't be able to leave a wheelchair/bed for their whole lives. Then I believe it should be up to the parents. If they have the time & money to look after their child, then yes, by all means do it. But if they aren't finically well off, or have a time consuming job, they should be allowed to 'terminate' the child, as it would hugely impact their life for the worse.
Uh I had a rather long and well written response to this but I had SQL issues and lost the post :/. I really don't feel like rewriting but in sum I stated you don't understand the world selfish. If the majority is forced into giving up for a small majority it is selfish of the minority to ask.
