Just my simple explanation about this new feature. JaGeX said they would never bring back the wilderness, and even also stated they didn't lose that many members in December 2007 due to the update.

If you also read closely on here, it states that they would need the majority of their players to vote. RuneScape has over 100 million accounts, so there would be a need for at least 10 million or so, and if they were being technical, 50 million.

JaGeX won't bring back the wilderness, it's a publicity stunt to gain attention and traffic, if people believe them, they come back and train, therefore JaGeX makes more money. It's all about the money. Just like their $10,000/mo contest, 20,000 people subscribe, they make millions and only give $10,000.

Don't get over excited, JaGeX will lose money by bringing back the wilderness from all the RWT, botting etc.

It's a publicity stunt, and it's fake.

That makes sense, i was kind of iffy about the whole thing anyhow. :/

Definitely, admitting it's fake would be a terrible idea and would not benefit them whatsoever, only lessen their reputation.

At first I thought (when I went to RuneScape and read that announcement) it was a phishing site - I don't think Jagex would do this. The player base are already used to the current rules.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this 'movement'. I doubt I would go back now, if I want to play RuneScape I have my private server. I have been botting lately though, so maybe trading some money off hacked accounts and pking will be fun.

I saw some chat logs from a Runescape worker (the people with the golden crowns), and he was saying that they wanted the wilderness too, and that they were thinking of a scheme that would not although scamming/hacking etc.
But that could be just all part of the act.

What if they had a contract saying they HAVE too change to the new update if they get over a certain amount of users saying yes then you could sue them.
I know that is highly rare but still in that case you could sue them.
