Well as everyone knows, free trade is coming back.
Back when free trade was taken away, prices of many thing sky rocketed. Not only that but with the addition of the Grand Exchange, people were able to manipulate the market, making it easy for people to merchant their items. This meant that many could easily double, triple, or even quadruple their amount of money in as little as a few days or a week.
Now that free trade is coming back, how do you think the economy will shift? People will now be able to sell things at as high or low of a price they want, as long as they have a buyer of course. Will the wanting to use skills to gain money come back? Or do you think people will still merchant.
I personally feel that prices of everything will fall (with the exception of some rares, this I have on idea on how free trade will affect them), making the rich more powerful and the poor able to get a leg up on them and start to buy items in which they never could before. I feel that people will now have to actually use skills to gain money (ie: Mining ores and smithing them into items, fishing and cooking them to sell, woodcutting and then fletching the logs) because at this point in the game, all it takes a little knowledge, a few million gold pieces, and the right group of people to turn an investment into profit.
Lastly, do you think there is anything that we can do to combat the falling of some prices? We can try to sell in GE at highest and such or just hold onto our items, but there are far too many people and too few of us to be able to have that big of an effect on the market. Do you think more people will try to stabilize prices and sell items such as a raw shark at the old price of 1k each and rune scimitars at 20-30k ea?
