Rick get's his hand chopped off during the confrontational war with the governor in the comic book (which the show has been loosely following so far, but Rick getting his hand chopped off is a pivotal point in the series) which is obviously going to happen extremely soon, either in the last 2 episodes or the beginning of the next season. There was also some leaked photos going around that I saw showing a dead Beth. Keep in mind, this is all speculation and none of it could actually happen.
