Themes, dude.

So I have this crazy far-fetched idea that people might like themes on ForumKorner. You know, something that's visually appealing other than this bland blue/gray blue/white combination I've been seeing for far too long... Is there any way @Philly can supply maybe a few Graphic designers like I see on here... @Astro / @Sector / @Jamil - can we collaborate / come together with a .ZiP of a simple MyBB theme - and make it fucking sick nasty? (a few different color variations/looks/styles would be SWEET) & I don't even know if that's even an option, but it would be pretty dope.

I'd work on one myself, if no one else wanted to fuck around with it. And I'm not going to just put 1-2 hours of work in it. I'm talking about 5-15 hours of work to make something that ForumKorner can be proud of. 'Cause I like using this Forum. It's the only one I use.

So if this is an option, fellow GFX Masters of the Universe - what do you say? You down?

@Philly - is this a possibility? 'Cause I for one am definitely ready for something more visually aesthetic. Even though I'll suffer and use the light/dark thingy. Either way, I look forward to yer response :)

I love the current theme and don't see any reason to change it. By the way, it requires much more than graphics knowledge to code a MyBB theme.

Good sir, friend, @Leader

to change a mybb theme, it's really not difficult at all. You have a basic layout (ForumKorner default right now)

All you literally have to do, is edit a few little minute things (real simple HYPER TEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE) & you can have something completely different.

I'm asking if @Philly will supply me with the default theme's zip, to maybe try out something different. There can even be a poll / something. Because I really do enjoy using this site, I'd just wanna see something a little more... Idk how to say it.. Welcoming/refreshing? Because the logo is centered text.. & Blue/White/Black... All the time... Why not some green? Or some crazy contrast lol. Idk. Just a suggestion about themes, mate.

I like the theme perfectly fine how it is. It's not even six months old yet. It took me long enough to adapt to this theme and I do not want to have to adapt to another theme so quickly.

I need to clarify.

SAME LAYOUT, DIFFERENT COLORS. MORE COLORS.

DIFFERENT LOGO AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN, MAYBE? SOMETHING BIGGER? VISUALLY AESTHETIC.

COLORS / OPTIONS. :D

Mhm mhm mmmhmm.

I thought you were building a new theme from scratch.

In my opinion the theme is fine as it is and as others have said: there isn't any reason to change it. One reason being that with so many conflicting opinions in the design process, the end theme may just look like a collage of several people trying to get their name on the website, instead of everybody working to produce one harmonious piece.

Another problem is something that has already been raised with the Light/Dark theme, and that is signatures. When designing a signature there are several factors which make it what it is. One of the major factors is colour, and at the moment it's already difficult to judge whether a colour would look good on two themes, let alone several.

Whilst it's a nice idea to have a collaborative project like this, I think it needs to be on a different subject, not the theme.

http://www.mybb.com/downloads (in zip file -> upload -> resources -> mybb_theme.xml)

Slapping more colors just because someone feels that it's needed may result in early 2000-2003 site look (rainbow like look).

I love this idea as well. Something as simple as a color change and font change will be a little bit different.

Font / color / font size / other styles pickers (jquery based) have flaws - once the color is selected and the page is refreshed you'll see that default color for a second or two (+ changing color to <a> tags will result in no hovered color beacuse a color picker is adding a that color value strait into style tag <a href="link" style="color:red">Mylink</a>).
