Thread Gone

My thread selling a BotKiller was deleted, then brought back, then deleted. Why?

Yeah yeah yeah I know, people can use it for illegal purposes. But it can be used for legal purposes too. If there is a disclaimer saying that this product is to be used for legal purposes only, why does the site care? It doesn't affect you (site owner) or the site in any way, and leaves no liability.

Also, I have a few analogies.

1) Gun stores. Do you think every gun there is used legally? Of course not.

2) ADD and ADHD Medication. Do you think every kid with a subscription really needs the pills? No! Often kids just use these to get high, etc.

I could go on. I truly don't see any reason why such software is not to be sold here, as it certainly is not illegal.

Look, i own a forum myself, and forum owners need to make rules.

If im correct this forum is hosted on hotgator. Hostgator does not allow hacks. It might get your account suspended and thats the last thing you want!

Also adsense might ban you if there is too much hacking related content on the forums. Anytime the word "hack" is typed, it raises a flag by google.

Too much of that and your account is gone.

But hey, maybe just reading the rules will help aswell!

We're not on HostGator.

Look, I'll be honest with you, I have no idea what a botkiller is. Sky- removed your thread. Once I understand it I can pass judgment, at the moment I'm relying on my Staff team.

Im assuming it is not on a russian offshore hosting is it? It doesnt matter where your forum is hosted, hacking is most of the time not allowed.

A botkiller is software that is used to remove malicious software off of a PC. One could use it almost as an anti-vius.

I don't remember seeing your original thread, however, these might be some reasons why it got deleted.

If it contained any download links to products that are normally sold. This is referred to as warez and is against the rules. We don't allow programs to be distributed here, if they are normally for sale.

I don't see why the actual botkiller would be a problem, as it isn't hacking, rather White Hat help.

Botkillers are sold and made for hacking purposes. No one uses them for legal purposes anymore. If someone did though, it would be a company that is trying to secure their network/ servers more.

Not true. I use the botkiller for my own PC. It is an easy way to remove malware. Don't make such general statements that you can't back up.

Seeing as no one has any objections, can I get my thread back? Please?

It will ultimately be left up to a staff member.
Us moderators can't make those types of decisions.

People bind it to there own RAT's and stuff so that they kill anyone elses control. Or run it on your own machine to kill any bots on yourself. That's about all its used for.

Yes, it can be used for that. More often than not, however, my buyers use it as a legitimate anti-virus. Also, a botkiller is a very legitimately recognized program. We sell directly through Plimus, and Plimus is 100% aware of what we are selling, and they recognize it as a legal piece of anti-malware. If Plimus, a legitimate company could sell this product, why can't you?

Furthermore, this web site does not seem to attract black hat buyers for the obvious reason that selling of such material is not allowed. So I really don't see the problem.

I personally would accept it as legal form of selling.
I'd say sell, but if it becomes an issue, where we are getting reports.
Such and such has sent me a botkiller, then we ban it?
