Tired of conformist crap

obviously you're going to get it on a hacking forum, if you want people that are actually good to critique you and tell you how terrible / good of an idea that was, then go to a graphics forum..

I have been to graphics forums, there is a trend, and if people don't obey it then it is considered bad. I am saying that the psychological perception of what is "good" or "bad" in graphic design is completely messed up.

Yeah I notice this régime everywhere that has a GFX section.

But it applies to many things in life, fashion for example; riddled with conformists.

So can you show examples of ideas?
Maybe they're just bad signatures..

There's loads. You'll see it everywhere.

Everyone has the same idea of what is good, so if someone doesn't follow/use the same stuff then it means it's bad.

Like in music right now, the idea is, if someone doesn't like dubstep that means they have bad music taste. So any songs they like are bad cause it's not dubstep.

It's hard to pick out specific examples.

I know what you mean, but I have a feeling OP had a recent experience where everyone said his work sucked, and I wanted to see what it actually looks like.

Not really recent, and I haven't made a signature for a LONG time, but I have noticed this trend, and It was not me in particular, but more a long the lines of the "rate my graphics" section on HF where common responses are like:

"Oh, its good, but its flat, try using the blurr tool to blurr the background"

"Theres not enough contrast in the lighting"

"You should get a render and a background"

But worst of all:
"I don't think this even qualifies for a signature, go to the tutorial section to learn how to actually make a signature"

Those aren't conformist minus the third one, people who say that are mentally retarded.
But they're trying to give the signature a better, more realistic look.. In a picture taken with a camera, the focal point is crisp and clear while the background is blurred.

Although the lighting isn't a big deal, it can make a signature that much better if you do it well.

Point proven. Signatures don't HAVE to be like pictures, everyone WANTS them to be like pictures and criticizes people's who aren't.

Why would you want a signature not to look good like that unless you're doing an abstract/smudge piece?
