Do you give tithes?

What do we have to believe? Do we need to give tithes or not? It says in the Old Testament that we need to give tithes, meaning 10 % of your source of monthly income? What if in my case, I have no one to depend on but myself, I am a single mom and what I have in my job is not really enough for me and my daughters need, am I considered not a Christian for not giving a tithes? In the New Testament, Jesus said, give what you heart desires. Isn’t contradicting? Well, I am just confused. Thanks

Yes, its written in old testament. But in new testament it was not mentioned the 10% that's why the catholic church does not require that 10%. Only christian or born again. I don't really know why but my sister is a christian and she said to me the first time she learned about it she gave 10% from her income. She did that i think only twice but only couple of month her earning increased. She was places to other account with highest pay in their company. I think that is what the christian believes. What you give will double or triple that's why they really encourage their fellow christian to follow the 10%. I think it is really true. But yeah its really hard if you're earning just enough for your living.

I don;t give tithes ,too and I don;t think this make me less as a Christian. God is everything, He owns everything and He is kind and forgiving and most of all, understanding. He is the one who shower us with blessings and He ask nothing in exchange but real faith in Him.

Hi,

It is depend on you and your faith about His promised on the Old Testament which is in Malachi 3:10 - Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
Tithing does not measure of how much is your tithe but it is about the faithfulness. He said put me in "test"...if I will not open the windows of heave to pour out his blessings. I had many experiences and testimonies about tithing...Since, I've read and my mother shared me that verse I tried my best to be faithful with my tithing and God didn't come short with His blessings. When I was in high school, if my mother give me 10 pesos for a week, I kept the 1 peso and that's my tithe for Sunday. When I went to college and had a 300 pesos weekly allowance, I kept the 30 pesos as my tithes. Try and God's blessings will overflow. Just 2 weeks ago, my husband had a big testimony about his tithe as well. He earned $200 from his saturday work and he is thinking to send me the $20 for my sister's medication than to give it as Tithe, but then when he arrive at church, he chooses to give it as a tithe. After the church, he went to the junk yard and look for a part of a car, there was a woman who gave him $30 just for a asking a direction. All I can say, is try it and you will surprisingly amazed of the blessings God will give you and your daughter. For God, a promise is a promised. God bless you and your daughter.
