[TUT] Disable Network Access To The Registry

Having network access allowed to your registry is a definite hole in security, the feature isn't even needed unless your on a major corporate network yet its still enabled on the average users box.

So here are the steps to disable it and prevent unwanted access:

Click Start – RUN and type “services.msc” (vista/7 run might not be shown, press windows key+r)

In the right-pane, right-click “Remote Registry” and select Properties.

Select Startup type as “Disabled” and click “stop” if the service is running.

Click Apply and OK.

If you have tuneup utility's installed it automatically informs you of this hole and gives you an option to disable it.

Good luck and stay safe.

Depends on if the network is connected to the internet, it can just be a bunch of PCs linked via a switch or hub (who the hell uses hubs still xD)
