1. Can someone teach me how to run install Ubuntu onto a external HDD without having to format it?
Or install it on a 'virtual machine' <-- Don't know what that is.
2. Will all RAM sticks work in my computer?

There's ranges of RAM. DDR3, DDR2, 1333MHZ, 1600MHZ. It depends if your motherboard and CPU can support it.

Oh, well I was looking on Newegg and I saw a deal for 40$ for 2x 2gig sticks, and, If I get on that computer, is there a way you can tell me whether or not I can support it?

Open your computer case. Remove your current RAM stick. Look at specs and post it here.
