Upgrading.

Has anyone here upgraded their PC or laptop from Windows XP to Windows 7 in the past? If you have, which of the Operating Systems do you prefer, and why?

Was the upgrade easy to do? Did you do it yourself, or hire somebody else or a company to do the upgrade for you?

As me, i'm using dual boot of Windows XP and 7.
I most preferring Windows 7 than Windows XP.

If you skipped over Windows Vista like so many others have, you may be in a shock when you upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. Windows 7 now have a lot of new features, tool, start menu and so many thing had been change on display and i can tell you this, it will not be done with mercy.

It's also depend on your PC. If you have low specification like 512 MB of RAM and 1.51 GHz i don't think it suit with Windows 7. Well just said that cause i have it before.

So anyway, back to the topic, I'm updating it by myself with format. It was a piece of cake to do that.

You can check here for more information.

I know how to upgrade my pc , i only hired a guy one, to help me and since then i never called him again. I have a very low system configuration , so i can't use W7 , but if i had a stronger configuration i wouldn't want to use it anyway , because i don't like that OS , i have Windows Xp Professional edition and i am very much satisfied with it . Been using it for years , and it never failed me . I like that OS because its has a simple sleek look, it has a fast interface and it can work on every computer . I also have Linux Ubuntu on my 2nd drive , and it was easy to install . If you want some help about upgrading post here and i will give you some advice

i have, you just need to apply the latest patch for your XP, i use win xp Sp3, and when do in place upgrade, you can use the upgrade validation tools that include in the windows 7 cd, to check whether your windows xp compatible or not. if compatible just go to next step.

if you worries, just using multi boot, so you will have 2 operating system, xp and 7.

have great experience to upgrade it mate

Yes i upgraded my computer from windows XP to windows 7 ultimate. I did it myself and i needed to do a fresh instal of windows so you have to format your computer. I had a problem because there were no drivers of windows 7 for my computer so i had to switch again to windows XP

I havent tried upgrading my XP sp3 since the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor told me that there are quite few problems when i try to upgrade. But maybe its better not to skip Vista. Since Windows 7 also uses some services from Vista. But some say a skip can also be done if you have a 2GB Ram and a 2.1GHz Cpu Speed. But im sticking to Xp
My only problem is i cant reformat my own laptop because my Cd-rom is dead. So i have to hire a programmer to boot up a usb.
Btw here's the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor it would help:
