I was thinking about this for a little while, maybe this will prevent spam and other unnecessary things? I would like it to be honest.

How will this prevent spam? I you want to prevent spam report the threads this would be relatively useless. Unless you are talking about a like plug in for posts that I you like a post and wanna say the same just like it instead.

No, I think it will stop pointless, immature, spam, etc. because whoever sees it would be able to thumb it down obviously.

I'm almost positive no one would want that all the time, and if you look at TTG it stopped a lot of the same. The posts got a lot better a while ago when it was put in.

I don't see it being abused, maybe it should be a feature for upgrades only? I'm not sure but that's something I forgot about.

The only abuse i've seen on places like TTG would be someone thumbing down every post in the thread.

People here have friends if they Ask to down vote a thread they most likely will.

The donators will pick on regular members and regular members will have there threads down rate because they are randoms.

Why do you think people try an become popular if it was in place the most popular person of the forum would have a highly voted thread while someone like me will have a down rates.


Also what is the difference between a 5star rating system?

A like system is different though.

Exactly, people going round thumbing down every post in a thread. I think it is fine the way it is in my opinion, I don't see much trashing that doesn't get sorted.

I do not see how this will prevent spam at all.
I'd prefer it if Philly just installed the 'Like' system. We already have neg rep that gets abused a lot, we don't need another negative-type system.

I don't like this at all, i think it's rather dumb to be honest. A thumbs up system won't prevent spam at all, reporting posts and getting warning on your account does, and we already have that. A thumbs up system just makes it a popularity contest just like facebook, and who's to say if you don't like the person, you just thumbs down everything they write. IMO this is just a waste of time.

I don't know if i'm explaining it as clear as I could, but you should get the idea and it would go for all other types like flame.

Just reporting the post and them getting a warning may do it, but it's our way of showing them too if they don't listen to the rules the first few times.

Our way of showing them is by reporting them and getting them a warning percentage.
That should be enough.

Same goes for flaming, report it. It's not allowed on the forums anyways.
Why give them a thumbs down when you can give possibly them an even bigger punishment?

If this system was only available for upgraded members, it'd be even worse. We already have the ability to give negative reputation, why should we be able to spread more negativity around when we're supposed to be setting an example for the regular members?

I also don't think you should compare ForumKorner with TheTechGame. They are 2 completely different types of communities. The necessities on each site are different. It's fine for TTG, not for FK, if you ask me.
