Virgin America is using Twitter to get the word out for a 24-hour sale that will give some of its proceeds to a cancer charity.
The airline blasted the “Fly Forward, Give Back” deal to its 230,000 followers on Twitter and bought a Promoted Trend (#flyfwdgiveback) and a Promoted Tweet. The promotion includes fares starting at $49. Virgin America is donating $5 per sale to Stand Up to Cancer, a non-profit.
The promotion is the second that the airline has done on Twitter. Last year’s “Fly Forward, Give Back” campaign prompted Virgin America’s fourth-largest sales day and raised $50,000 for education causes.
The effort comes after the brand just celebrated its fourth anniversary with another Twitter-themed promotion, at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
