What do you guys think about the Westboro Baptist Church?

I always knew they were fucked up but after seeing videos of them talking about how people who have cancer deserve it and how they protest soldiers funerals and etc.

The worst part is yes, if a child is born into a christian family most likely he will be christian all goes for any religion but these sick fucks raise kids to hate soldiers, gays, love sicknesses, and all sorts of fucked up shit. If I ever saw one of these people at my fathers funeral (he is a vet) I would no joke kill them.

I distract myself with their exertions once in a while, as a source of fiendish entertainment and as a drive for deconstructing the architectures that support these laughable and asinine religious beliefs, which they vehemently attempt to spread, like cancer. However, I praise their high publicity for we have a multitude of cultures which supremely valorize faith and empty-proof beliefs. The WBC has acted as a martyr for what is so pitiful, shameful and absurd with tyrannical faith-based religions, at an objective level, by exhibiting profitable archetypes of true Christianity. These people are the most genuine Christians that live in the modern world; they actually follow and enforce their dictated doctrines to great extents. Howbeit, they're barely even Christians; they don't follow their doctrine to the core. The Westboro bigots still cherry-picks their doctrine and interprets the text in ways which reinforce their desirabilities. The Westboro Baptists would be considered heretics and sentenced to death if they lived in the Era of Darkness where the Church reigned and campaigned the ideals of Christian philosophy in Europe.

However, I find it important to recognize, the WBC, grotesque and sickening as they are -- are not even the paramount of religious fanatics of the status quo; they are trivial nuisances in comparison. Unlike Christian fundamentalists, Islamic fundamentalists actually believe their doctrine. Islam-based terrorists organizations are spreading their message of "love" by denying innate human rights, and barbarically torturing and murdering innocent people by the number in the name of Allah, their God, and are being valorized by the major population of the Muslim-world for doing so. This, I find immensely more disturbing and heartbreaking than these harmless bigots.

I don't understand how you are contempt with allowing people to publicly speak irrational hate with no factual evidence that damages the reputation and name of others. I know you want to keep free speech, and I agree to an extent. But by allowing free speech, we also allow ignorance to survive, which does nothing but harm our society. And being offended for good reason is absolutely an acceptable defense. If a group of KKK members started picketing on a street corner, do you expect any blacks to be not offended? I was not advocating for total state control of all expression. Simply, the state should try to deter public defamation that is irrational and unprovoked, because it can ruin someone's reputation. Other then that, I agree with your point.

If the WBC drove someone to kill themselves, it would undoubtedly get national attention from the media for how disliked they are. We have not seen this, so it highly unlikely; regardless, we don't know does not mean it's therefore true.

The Westboro Baptist Church is made of radical Christians. ISIS is made up of radical Muslims. Every religion has their radicals, and depending on the circumstances the radicals can either be disgusting or complete murderers. The Muslims are the murderers and the Christians just disgusting human beings in this world. However, had history been a bit different, could it have been the othe way around?
