What are all the elements of graphic design?

I am trainee level graphic designer. i want to know that what is graphic design? & what are all the elements of graphic design?. I am always strumbled with choosing correct font for right place & choosing colors, give me some suggestions or tips for overcome from my problem. generally how to design a ad?. please give the elabrate answer that will clarify my all doubts.

For me, it just comes naturally. I just go with the flow when designing.

Honestly, i can't tell you. This is what you should think about: what looks right to you? What look beautiful in your eyes. At that point, continue from there and work on your skills. You can ask for thoughts on your work but what really counts is if you stick to what you know and try different things as well. We all have different styles, sure some people may not like your style but stick with it. Get better, increase your knowledge on GD and you'll get better. That's all i can tell you.

Yeah Xenial got it right there are always guidelines but there are never any rules. To me it's what you like making.
