What do you think about the IMF Chief?

The new Chief of the IMF is the french lady Christine Lagarde.

For me, it's a good thing to have a female as the head of the IMF but i was also wondering if it's not better to vote for someone from the emerging countries such as Mexico, Brazil, India or China... It's always people from the European countries that represent this institution (and the 5th time a french personality)... Same thing for the Global Bank that is always represented by US personalities.

What do you think?

@ata601, I'm disagree with you: Objectively the candidacy of the mexican Agustin Carstens was the best, he served as Governor of the Bank of Mexico, he previously served as Secretary of Finance in the cabinet of Felipe Calderón, and was also a deputy managing director of the IMF (that he knows well) and Treasurer of the Bank of Mexico.

Christine Lagarde has lots of qualities but she never runned a financial institution and never studied economy. So why she was chosen? Because behind the scene, the European Union lobbyes made pressure to obtain her candidacy. Europe do NOT want to lose the supremacy of the IMF.

@alikhan, well, the IMF is far to be perfect, i'm agree with you on this particular point but about the acronyms, you've stated... you'll have to prove that cause i disagree!
