Just dual boot ubuntu or boot it to a flash drive so you can test it and see if you like it. I only ever use Linux but i still have windows 7 on dual boot in case i need it for something

I hated Linux Ubuntu 10. Get a 64bit if you have more then 3.4GB of RAM

I'm thinking of a dual boot as well.
Ubuntu is on the top of my list but I want to make sure that I'm getting the "best" one for me.

If its your first time definitely use ubuntu to learn all the stuff and for some reason you want to switch to another distro you will know some of the basics.

If you actually want to LEARN linux, I suggest Arch Linux.

If you want a nice desktop environment, I suggest Linux Mint.

I heavily suggest you do not install it then. You will not like it. (Most likely)

Mint or Ubuntu are definitely the best choices to go with if you are looking for a nice desktop... You will not be able to run most games without heavy configuration.

(Runescape runs fine.)

I used nothing but Ubuntu for over a year at one point. I'd say that you should just go with it. I'd definitely recommend it over Mint.

x04a, can I ask why you first used any Linux distro? I first used it because my step-dad inquired me to, no other honest reason. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience it gave me.

Have you used any Linux based operating systems before?
If not don't go and format your pc and get a new OS and fuck yourself over.

Just use Wubi to dual boot, it's the same exact thing.

You will love it. Just the look and feel of it is so much better than any other OS.
