What to get

This summer I'm saving up to get a laptop. I'm not sure really what exact one to get though, so I thought I'd try asking the people of Runegear.

It will mainly be used for gaming and schoolwork. I'm thinking mainly Toshiba but if you know another amazing brand that will work go for it.

I'll be using it to bot as well, so how much ram should I get and how many bots could that ram run without lag?

I'll spend up to $1400, and I would appreciate it if you could even show me a few specific laptops as well as a good brand.

Just messing around with Alienware, for $1200 I'd get

PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2.0GHz (2.9GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
MEMORY 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
VIDEO CARD 1.5GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus™ technology
HARD DRIVE 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s
LCD PANEL 14.0" High Def (720p/1366x768) with WLED backlight
WIRELESS CARDS Intel® Advanced-N WiFi Link 6205 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO Technology
WIRELESSHD None
INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE 8x SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Slot Load Optical Drive
SOUND OPTIONS Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio

Anything you think I should I should upgrade/don't need?

I've had 2 past experiences with toshiba, Both bad.

I had 2 laptops off of them.

One started to fall to peices, Literally, I'll post pics later.

The second, The hardrive raped it self (i can't remember what happened exactly, but it did :3)

I would reccomend an Acer or Advent (What i have now and it's great.)

Looks ok, am I able to get that in the US?

If I was to go with Toshiba, I would probably get one of these: http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptop-finder/compare?skus=X775-Q7270,X775-Q7272

Keep in mind that my parents will pay for half :3.

Definitely a Toshiba, they're great.

Get good RAM, HDD space & a 1GB GFX card, at least i3 processor as-well.

Get a Sony Vaio; They don't break down easy, or get blue screens, ect.

I DO NOT recommend: Compaq, Dell, Toshiba.

^^ These get most of the low ratings. Because they break easy like motherboard burning or HDD failure.

Yeah I had a toshiba laptop. After like a month it started making weird noises and then just broke down altogether. If you want a badass computer just build one yourself. You can get amazing specs, much better than the toshiba ones for less. I just took a moment on google to see what came up, check out this site. I don't know if its legit though :3

I'm not the best with comps, I'd rather just get a prebuilt one and have that be it.

If you're recommending me brands, could you maybe also recommend a certain one?

Thanks for the help so far!

This a step up from the one I have, and this one runs amazing.

That looks pretty awesome actually. Only problem is the thin screen, I'm not the most gentle person and I'd probably break it. :embarassed:

Lmao, well you'll have to be gentle if you get it. :]

So true, cause I really do like it.

Atari brand is really expensive, it's like what NASA uses!
