When you say "lol" in a chat, let it be FB, Skype, MSN, whatever, do you actually laugh? Giggle? Or do you just say it for making the other person think that his/her joke was funny? Or is it just some random thing you say?

I personally don't laugh everytime I saw lol, just if it was a good joke.
What about you?

Not really.. most of the time it's more of an expression.

When I actually laugh at something, I just put "lol" in caps; "LOL".

I type "haha" when I'm laughing from a joke on skype/facebook/etc. But irl. If I find something funny, I just say "lol" :l

If I laugh I don't write anything lol, if it's a lame ass joke I say lol and hope they still like me, so then I can scam them, have sexual intercourse with them, or have some more sexual intercourse with them.

When i say lol, i normally don't laugh... Even if it's something funny... the only time i'll actually laugh if it's a video or if it's real life.

Usually only say lol as like a filler. You can also put it in a like any sentence to remove any creepiness

It's weird because I tend to use 'lol' a lot less when chatting to my IRL friends on Facebook/texting. I use 'haha' in place of 'lol' because saying that screams out I DON'T ACTUALLY THINK THAT'S FUNNY BUT I'M JUST SAYING THAT TO MAKE ME LOOK GOOD. On forums and games, I don't care.

For the record, I almost never laugh out loud when I say lol. It translates into 'I think this is mildly humorous'. If on the rare occasion I do actually laugh, on varying stages of hilarity, I either reply 'LOL', 'L0L' or 'LOOOOOOOOOL'.

Exactly, It's like an icebreaker, You can call someone a dumbfuck and it will seem like you're actually calling them a dumb fucker, or put "lol" after it, and they will most likely say "lol" in response.


I do it after EVERYTHING, Like my friend said his dog died....I said "lol".
