I'd rather keep a DVD Player. Blu-Ray, though the only good thing is the protective layer on the disc for scratching preventions, is just a next-gen DVD, which DVD itself can still handle what the Blu-Ray can do. You can still get the same quality and all from a DVD, which Blu-Ray can do, too. All of the movies that are released for Blu-Ray are slightly much more expensive than its DVD version.

I would stick with the DVD.

This are what I know about the two disc:
The 1080p resolution of an HDTV, compared to 480p resolution of a DVD, can be exploited to its maximum only by a Blue-Ray player.

Apart from its picture quality, a Blue-Ray player stores more data than a DVD. A DVD can store no more than 10 GB while a Blue-Ray disc can handsomely store a thumping 45-50 GB.

Blue Ray movies are packed with HD 1080p quality with maximum file size of 20 Gb as there is much clarity in both audio and video in blue ray than a dvd disc but blue ray is more prone to scratches.
