Why Criminals Face is Covered When They Are Shown On TV?

It is commonly observed that Criminal's face is covered by some cloth or mask when they are taken by the police on TV! I really fail to understand why it is done so? Police wants them to protect them from public harassment? If so why? They have committed a crime and let the society know about it! Your Views please! Thanks !

Well it is one of the human rights that we really have to respect and adhere to. Even if they have done something wrong, they are still human and they are entitled to that right. One more thing, it is also to protect their families from humiliation and mockery because after all it is not their fault that they are related or recognized with the criminal especially their immediate family members like the wife and the children. It is very tragic for the family to be associated with a criminal and more often than not they are also judged or viewed as if they are the one who committed the crime itself so in order to protect them the identity of the criminal is not exposed to the public.

i don't think so they are committed mistake i know there are also human being they also my have some problems i think they are hiding from public

I guess they simply cover every one's face if the persons arrested requested for the same as they may prove to be innocent later and may feel insulted and may claim for loss of respect or damages and go to court against police for the same. Otherwise also, the law says no body is a criminal until proved.

Well police always covers and hide them from public bcoz they dont want their faces to be exposed as public may humilate their family and after being a criminal they might have some reason.

i see no point in keeping there face covered when found guilty.i think public should know the real face of the culprit and identify him for his/her misdeed.ofcource till the court has not pass on a judgement,its better to let them cover up their face as they might be innocent but if found guilty they should be exposed to the public.

They covered their face for sving them and their family from future bad events when they return from jail than they want to make a new life so they cover their face.

First and foremost most of them are suspects. when we say suspects they are not yet proven to be guilty or not. It is really a great embarrassment for a person handcuffed and in the end he/she is not guilty. Second is I think they are ashamed of what they have done.

Well you have a point there, but let us remember, criminal or not they are still human beings. And Privacy is a human right. So well that's why their faces are covered on TV. Of course some crimes doesn't involve the whole country or the entire masses. Some are committed to a certain person only. So I don't think everyone should see the face of the criminal unless they are involved. Examples of these are prostitutes. Some criminal faces are also shown in TV you know. And those are criminals who committed heinous crimes like murder and are on the police watch list.
