Why don't you guys ban IP address? That would make it a lot harder for scammers to comeback, or just straight multi's.
 
They can do this and im sure they do but people know how to change there ip's and use vpns. Im sure if they could stop it they would.

I have a feeling they don't do this because how do they find matches on multi accounters IPs? I'm not going to accuse them of not doing it, I just don't think they do.

If someone is suspected of multi accounting they can check the ip of the account and then if more than one comes up they are a multi.

That's what I mean. If they changed their IP, it would only show one IP and wouldn't have a match. :p

IK but still there is a chance they didnt change there ip and some kids cant change there ip so it would be worth doing it.
 
If you ban the IP of the person, they cant make another account unless they change their IP ( Which most cant with Cable/high speed internet) . Or they use a VPN, either way it still stops multi's. Just a waste of time to keep banning multi-accounters.

They scan IP's They could ban IPs all they wish but all it takes is a tor browser or a good VPN to get around that.
 
Hi, Fever!

The Staff work extremely hard to make ForumKorner better then all of the other communities and the work they do is outstanding. Remember that scamming is an offence and you know that! Just think of what it takes to come back, and how easily it could be done. Two examples:
  • VPN (Virtual Private Network)
  • Proxy Server

It is extremely easy and there would necessarily be no point in doing so. Also, the scammer may want to create a Pardon Request.

That doesnt convince me in the slightest.

Its like saying "well someone can break into your house so whats the point of having a lock on the door when they can go through the window."
 
IP Banning is not really an issue. If they could MAC ban that would help, but there are lots of issues with MAC Banning.
 
Honestly, you should have posted this in the private inquires section. Since staff or Philly himself will be the only one to give you a decent enough answer and not beat around the bush or start a discussion about it like it has above. Our thoughts are merely opinions on this topic until staff makes it clear. I'm sure there is a reason, or maybe it just takes a certain situation for it to happen.
 
We ban IP's all the time, I don't know why you assume we don't.. Absolutely no one can register more than once with the same Ip anyways, so banning IP's does absolutely nothing besides block them from accessing the site, which too is extremely pointless as someone can do two clicks and be back on the site anyways with a proxy or vpn. If someone wants to multi or ban evade they can, and there is nothing me, or anyone else can do about it.

We can slow down the process, and that is guaranteed it. If you or anyone else think for a second that they know of a way to guaranteed stop multi accouters or ban evaders, by all means lets hear it!
