Why wont my tv work when my lounge light is on?

My tv for a while now has been going dodgy when i turn the lounge light on, which is situated near it. Now, the tv wont work at all unless I turn the light off. The tv turns on, and the screens on, but cannot receive a signal to show me any channels unless the light is off. It's quite an old television, but i was just wondering if anyone could throw a guess at me as to wether I need to purchase a new tv, or wether maybe get an electrician to check my lights?

Is your tv still under warranty. It probably took a crap. Perhaps you cna get it exchanged or fixed.

As Philly said, I would advise you to take it back if its still under warranty, It's very strange that it doesn't turn on when your light is on.

It's most likely the power in your house.

Are you using a power block.
You probably have too many things requesting power from the single plug.

I think NiQue is right. My friend had the same problem and it was this. But if its a crap t.v then try and return it first.
