About 10 countries officially have nuclear missles. That sure as hell doesn't mean their going to use them. Everybody has them just to keep up in technology with the rest of the world. Nobody shot nuclear missiles in the cold war for a reason also.
The only poeple that would be psychotic enough to shoot a nuclear warhead would be an extremist rebel group, such as the Taliban.
Anyways just USA alone has more than 10x nuclear warheads than China, so it wouldn't even be a battle.
We definitely wouldn't have to use all those Nuclear arms. And the reason the cold war never ended up in a launch is because of how we acted. Had we acted them then of course a war would have broken out. We're extremely lucky it didn't happen considering all the almosts.

We were practically asking for a direct war during the Cuban Missile Crisis. We called Khrushchev's bluff and made them back down about a minute away from an all-out battle. Not to mention all the indirect wars across the globe we fought "against" them
Actually we ended up negotiating and avoiding conflict. If I'm not mistaken we removed missiles from Turkey.
We really didn't want to fight them since we knew what would happen, instead we had a spending competition knowing we would win.
