Really don't think it is. I can't imagine ever playing a decent game on a laptop (at home, just use my desktop) the only things I need to do on my laptop is bot Runescape, completing school work and using the interwebs. Unless you plan to travel a lot and wish to play Diablo 3 xD Just get a desktop for $300 cheaper or so.

I need a laptop for school, I have a desktop that I'm gunna do some minor tweeks too this summer. I just need a reliable laptop as well.

Well, I got my laptop (acer) wasn't the best, but I just needed it for educational purposes and minor gaming (Runescape and Garry's mod) nothing with outstanding graphics, it was reliable for the few years I had it until I accidently got a headphone jammed in between on closing the screen. I can't quite remember the perks of it, but the price was $1,000 AUD, this was roughly 3 years ago, and as far as I know the price of desktops/laptops have dropped significantly (according to comparison of the laptop to more recent sales) As far as I'm aware a reliable laptop needed for school should be under $1,000.

Also doesn't your school lend out netbooks or some form of laptop for your education?

Some people don't simply want a desktop, or have another one, or have space for one.
If laptops were 100% useless for gaming, then companies wouldn't make them.

@"Techno", really cool laptop, I think the price is right to what it has. I'd buy it if I didn't have my PS3 and Xbox, I don't need a computer for gaming. All I need right now is a new laptop to mainly do school work and play some games like Minecraft, RuneScape, GTA VC and SA, and CoD 1 every once in a while. But good choice, I do think it is worth it.

+ Law school so I need something REALLY reliable.

Very powerful laptop, but it would be useless if your only doing school work. Perhaps get a ultra book or notebook for $700
