Hi, I don't use Youtube all too much but was considering getting a username for it.

I searched a bunch of YT URL's (yt.com/user/____) and when they came up it said, "This channel does not exist."

This is probably a retarded thing to ask but can those names still be claimed (pls don't roast)? On other accounts I looked up it would say "This account has been terminated" for various reasons so why are there so many usernames that "don't exist"?

Also, what's the difference between your YT URL/Username and a channel that you can make within your YT account? Can they both have the same name?

Lastly, how would one go about securing a YT account?

Tbh I'm not even sure what the difference is between youtube.com/NAME, youtube.com/user/NAME, and youtube.com/c/NAME. I do know that even if it says unavailable it will not always be claimable.
 
YouTube.com/c/ is from Google Plus but YouTube.com/user/ and YouTube.com/ is from before Google Plus was a thing when your username was your link.

So what's the benefit of an OG Youtube? Anyone can change their name so it's just the URL? 

Do you know how to secure one?

yeah it's just the URL, and no I'm not really sure how to secure one. I can secure Gmails but YouTubes aren't always linked to Gmails

If you upload a video though it will have your username as the channel though right? And that's what you can't just change, right?

If you upload a video the name will be the name you set on Google + or whatever. When you click the name, it will go to the URL. You can't change the URL as far as I know.

You can change your username on Google Plus whenever you like, there's a limit of times you can change your name but there's a way to change it whenever you like.

Yeahh there's no way to change your URL.

So the URL is the best part of this is what I'm getting. Do you know how to secure one? (If there is a way).

Nahh sorry I don't if there's a way to secure YouTube and yeah if you're wanting to buy a YouTube you'll be buying it for the URL.

It is possible to reclaim old youtube channels.
It is very unlikely though!

It's hard to get a custom name there's a few requirements and such
