Its not that they will go around killing everybody, but they can. If the military and government can silently whisk people away to foreign prisons(Guantanamo) with no due process, thats the start of a military dictatorship. Nobody is over exaggerating this it is a huge problem.

America is probably the worst country in the world. I would be ecstatic to slave under the Castro family than live here, the only thing is i cant get the hell out of the country because i don't have enough cash to LEAVE the worst country in the world.
