In New Zealand we can benefit anything besides entry into a casino at 18. It would be even better to live in Australia where you just have to be 18 in order to do anything age restricted. So I think if our society does not crumble at such an age it should be fine in the USA.

I was speaking for countries that had the law of the drinking age being 21. Here in america for some reason it is 21. However you can drive at 16, smoke at 18, but drink at 21 it doesn't make since, if anything all three should be the same age, or at the very least drinking at 20 it would just make more since you know 16, 18, 20.

Thought the age requirement has never stoped anyone I know from drinking.
You can get you Learners Licence at 16 here too.

I think the drinking age should be lower because turning 18 entails receiving the rights and responsibilities of adulthood to vote, serve on juries, get married, sign contracts, join the military (which includes taking on the responsibilities of life and death) and be prosecuted as adults. Adults from the age of 18 should therefore also be trusted to make decisions about alcohol consumption.

That's not really the issue though, at 18 you're an adult and an adult should be allowed to make these kind of decisions for themselves. 21 is a ridiculous legal drinking age.
