Would it be best to flip the laptop upside down?

umm i didn't do that but since the water would then move towards the towel its worth a shot.

As this may work be careful to not get the wires or any spot to hot as it could short it out and cause more damage keep it at a dissidence might help the water evaporate faster tho. might not even need to open it up!

On a more serious note, I have 3 years experience with IT. And honestly I don't think you will be able to fix this without actually opening up your Mac and cleaning out your touchpad. Wait for it to dry, if it still doesn't work open UK your Mac and GENTLY clean it with something small. Preferably a Q-tip. You could also try compressed air for faster drying. Otherwise you might have to get it sent off to Apple to be fixed. They will either fix it or give you a brand new Mac.

I'll open it up and have a look tomorrow after school, would a blowdryer from a distance help?

Yes, but be very careful. Concentrating to much heat can ruin the components. Turn the blow dryers heat down to the lowest it can get. It should dry fairly fast, once you do that turn your Mac back on and see if it works. If not take a Qtip and swab the spots on the pad that need attention, do it gently because you could get cotton stuck inside and worsen the situation, make sure you clean it as thoroughly as possible. Be VERY careful not to swab to hard and break one of the pins inside, if that happens you're fucked. If this doesn't work then you'll just have to send it off.

Agreed goes with any like technology if the board gets to hot then its fucked. i would result to the blow dryer last if all else fails. You might also try just a air can / compressed air and blow it on the spot to gut dust and extra water off might help!!!

Turn it off. Take off all the keys and put it in rice for a while.

@Michael do NOT put rice in it. The rice will leave shit behind and its hard to get out. Rice won't help you in this situation. It only works with phones. Trust me, you don't want to put rice inside your computer.

lol agreed on the not putting rice in it, although it dries it up will also leave a residue behind possibly making things very sticky !

I would just use a mouse bro. I spilled Mountain Dew on mine and the battery shorted out, so you're lucky! That was expensive to fix.

Your best options are to drown the computer in rice and blow dry it for a few hours.
Or you just have to find the money for Apple to fix it for you. (That'll be crazy expensive, you could also try the Australian equivalent to Best Buy)

You can try this but as I said before the residue and crap from the rice mike make it sticky depending on how much water there is. I would just let all the water dry up and see If that doesn't work and see then what your options may be, I would bring it to Apple before I tried that but ho knows might work :)

The mouse still isn't working. I'll blowdry it and let you know what happens.

Put the laptop in a bag of rice, the asians will sense it and come fix it right away. Either that or the rice absorbs the moisture not to sure about that one though.
