I watched it a while back and I was gutted as well.. The manga seems like it's nearing an end as well. Maybe a remake of some sort hopefully =P

First anime I probably watched was around that DBZ/Gundam Wing/Trigun/Cowboy Bebop period. I swear there was some random Gundam anime I had recording on VHS though..
 
The first anime I watched was a movie. It was Akira. Then I watched Spirited Away. Then One Piece, Deathnote and so on.
 
My first anime what pokemon. That was the only one I liked. Everything else was shit. Just my opinion
